Abdominal aortic aneurysm

Abdominal disorders are known to cause problems to the back, extending out from the abdominal area to create acute lower back pains.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm is when the aorta, a large artery in the abdomen, enlarges to the extent that it exerts pressure to cause pain.

It is not at all uncommon for abdominal aortic aneurysm to occur in elderly people, but the condition is rarely symptomatic. However, if the enlarged blood vessel starts to bleed or rupture it can cause serious problems with constant back and abdominal pain.

If a patient exhibits the symptoms of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (such as acute back pain) then they must seek expert medical help at the earliest possible. If the patient does not get adequate medical care immediately, and the blood lost from the abdominal aortic aneurysm is large enough, the patient may suffer from hypotension, unconsciousness or even death in severe cases.
